Viral Genetics Updates on Release of Results of Phase III Study of VGV-1 for the Treatment of HIV Infection

AZUSA, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Mar 31, 2006 -- Viral Genetics, Inc. (OTC BB:VRAL.OB - News) previously stated its expectation that the results of the Phase III human clinical trial conducted in South Africa would be available by today. While this expectation will not be met today, Viral Genetics expects no significant delay in the release of the results of the clinical trial conducted in South Africa.

The "TNP-001 Study" was a Phase III, double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized, multi-center study of 137 HIV positive patients treated with either VGV-1 or placebo that began enrollment in August 2004 and completed follow up in November 2005.
